ZY0380 performs various 45-degree hypervariables. Beginners master two bodyweight variations: the neutral/neutral approach (feet straight and torso straight) and the hip-dominant approach (feet flared out and bent back). The former works the entire posterior chain including the erectors, while the latter makes it more of a hip extensor exercise by eliminating the involvement of the erectors and increasing the contribution of the glutes. Once these become easy, the client can do pulses (upper half reps) or prisoner's pose (hands behind the neck), or use resistance. We primarily do resistance training by holding dumbbells or placing resistance bands around the upper back (or neck). Dumbbells work through the full range of motion, while elastic bands work more in the lockout portion of the movement.
